The following represents the activity mission set forth for The Raoul Wallenberg Humanitarian Institute during fall, 2001 through fall, 2004.
A Raoul Wallenberg Monument in Chicago.
To lobby and help sponsor the erection of a Raoul Wallenberg Monument with a proposed location of State Street and Wacker Drive, which is already designated as The Raoul Wallenberg Place by the City of Chicago (Oct.4, 1996).
The mission is to receive financial support to cover the expense of the bronze head sculpture of Raoul Wallenberg. A plaque will be attached describing the history and deeds of Wallenberg as a hero who personally rescued 30,000 victims of World War II. Wallenberg, an honorary U.S. Citizen (October 5, 1981), is arguably one of the greatest heroes of our times and a champion to young and old who seek a true example of a person with unequaled moral courage.
The budget for this project is estimated at $60,000. When this amount has been raised, the Wallenberg monument will be presented to the City of Chicago as a gift from the people who gave their support to the project and hail Wallenberg as their hero never to be forgotten. Similar monuments have been raised in New York, London, Budapest, Montreal, Buenos Aires, Stockholm, among others.
